# GIS (Level 1) Introduction to the use of GIS

Everything that happens on earth has a location. That means you can map it. When there are multiple similar incidents, then you can find patterns and run analysis tools over maps to make better decisions. This workshop introduces the attendees to world of GIS uses in day to day decision making process for organizations, governments and communities.

Instructor: Neel Chowdhury (Product Engineer at ESRI)

## Summary

The objective of this introductory workshop is to understand the importance of GIS, know what are some of the tools that exist and how to visualize the data and results for the stakeholders to understand the results. We will go over the first GIS use followed by solving a few fun and serious problems and finally learn how to convert a dataset into maps and tell a story.
